GJPaw salesis pleased to bring to a RARE OFFERING of African Art & Cultural Artifacts from the estate of a well-known Chicago collector.
salesis very pleased to offer an Antique African Knobkerrie. This is an extremely large, impressive example carved from from a single piece of dense hardwood. Clubs of this type were used in Southern and Eastern Africa for close quarter combat, launching as a missile, or for execution. It is very likely that this club was used in combat as there is dark staining to the large head. This is a museum quality, old example with a nice museum stand included. The Knobkerrie measures a huge 22 inches including the base (55.88 cm). The club was acquired from a long-time collector in South Africa over a decade ago. It came to us from an important collection of authentic African Art. Be sure not to miss out on this important piece of African weaponry. It would be an important addition to any collection of weaponry or African art.
