Offered here is an early Dedham Pottery arts & crafts era 8.5\" plate in the Horse Chestnut pattern and decorated by Maude Davenport. Nice blue color, very uniform & tight crackle and the superb artwork you would expect from the Maude, whose rebus \"O\" can be seen in picture 2. The border is slightly raised which is typical of early pieces. There is a small, flat flake on the back which CANNOT be seen on the front. The bottom has the pre-1929 blue stamp as well as a single incised rabbit. A nice early plate offered at an equally nice price!
