This is for a nice early Georgian snuff box, it dates around 1740 and is fashioned from silver and pearl. It has a silver frame with fixed outside hinge, typical of this type of early box and it is inset with mother of pearl on the base of the box and the lid. The pearl in the lid has been carved to show a nautical scene of fan like shells in different sizes. It is in excellent condition with surface hairline cracks in the surface of the pearl only, the hinge is intact and working as it should and the lid is perfectly tight with no play. It measures 62mm (2.3") x 45mm (1.75") x 17mm (0.75") deep.
