Early Pre Wwi Hungarian Shashka Cavalry Sword W/ Scabbard:
Good condition and guaranteed original pre WWI Hungarian military shashka cavalry sword that is complete with correct original scabbard. Impressive 30” curved blade has mixed bright, gray, and brown metal finish and has been sharpened. Sword has many beautiful engraved designs, including the Hungarian crowned shield coat of arms, the Blessed Virgin Mary, “PATRONA HUNGARIA VIRGO MARIA”, “PRO DEO ET PATRIA”, “PRO PATRIA ET LIBERTATE VITAM”, and a mounted cavalry officer. Engraved designs still retain some of the original gold inlay. Horn grips have a good tight fit, sword features an ornate pommel. Scabbard is of wooden construction with leather covering that shows much wear, tear, and chipping. Wood body has many cracks and large chips. Silver fittings show normal tarnish and have many tiny proof marks, including an 1869 date. Very interestingly, one silver fitting has what appear to be Arabic character markings. Scabbard is complete with original leather hangers. An extremely rare early Hungarian shashka cavalry sword that will make a superb addition to your collection and warrants further research. On Apr-05-13 at 06:10:42 PDT, seller added the following information:
