English Tavern Clock Circa 1790:
This is a beautiful example of an English tavern clock. It is 41" tall, the diameter of the top piece is 18", the width of the drop down is 11" and it projects 8" from the wall. It's in great shape, and keeps the right time for days. You also get the big original keyy as well as the small one that's much easier to use. When I had it checked and cleaned by our local clock shop, he was able to look up J.Bennett of Norwich, and was able to date the clock to about 1790. He showed me how important it is to have this clock perfectly balanced both from side to side and front to back in order for it to run properly. We needed to stick small wedges behind it, and drove a small nail into the wall to mark where a side needed to be for balance. I mention this because I thought there was something wrong with the clock when I couldn't get it to run properly. I've checked into shipping costs, and I'd figure the lower 48 states to run about $375 and the UK to run about $1,500. DO NOT GO BY THE SHIPPING CHARGE THAT AUTOMATICALLY GOES INTO THE LISTING SINCE I HAVE TO USE THEIR DROP DOWN BOXES IN ORDER TO FINISH THE LISTING. THIS IS A GLICH IN THE SYSTEM I CAN'T CORRECT. Local pick up in New London, CT is an option, but the clock has been taken apart and packed in three seperate boxes in order to ship it safely. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have.
