EXCEPTIONAL!! 1920's Art Deco AMETHYST GLASS Enameled FILIGREE RHODIUM NECKLACE
Offered here is an OUTSTANDING example of an antique ART DECO filigree necklace.....estimated to be circa 1920's.
This is an ENCHANTING antique necklace that features a faceted Marquis shaped AMETHYST glass jewel that is held within four prongs and mounted on an EXQUISITE open backed Pierced FILIGREE frame. The jeweled pendant measures almost 1 inch at it's widest by 1 3/8 inches tall and it is adorned with PLUMED Glass ENAMELED designs....displaying VIBRANT HUES of Deep Sapphire Blue, Kelly Green and Mustard Yellow.
It suspends from an ORNATE Plumed SHELL bale.....and the chain is an EXCELLENT mixture of Paper Clip and oval links. The closure is a spring ring clasp that is original to the piece....and fully functional. It is RHODIUM over a base metal.
The necklace is an EXCEPTIONAL piece of jewelry.....SO.O.O.O ART DECO in design.....and it is absolutely GORGEOUS!! It measures 20 7/8 inches long....with the Filigree pendant and bale adding another 2 inches to the length.
This antique necklace is a FANTASTIC Piece that is in EXCELLENT vintage condition!! All the enamel is intact....although upon close inspection there is slight Rhodium wear between the enameled designs. The facets on the glass jewel are still very crisp....with a couple of tiny nicks found and also a couple of small nicks near one prong that looks like a manufacturing defect. These are visible under scrutiny and with magnification ONLY. It would be a DELIGHTFUL asset to any vintage/antique jewelry collection.
