Please be aware this is a ninth plate before offerding.CASED TINTYPE OF A UNION SOLDIER. We were informed that the yellow piping on his shell jacket indicates Cavalry. On his cap in gold: "A 21." Only two states had Cavalry units numbered 21: New York and Pennsylvania. Therefore, this is a Union soldier of Company A, 21st Cavalry, either NY or PA.SIZE. Tintype alone is approximately 2 3/8 x 2 inches. Housed in ninth plate parts.HOUSING. Hard Union case in reasonably good condition.CONDITION. Small bump at bottom. No scratches.
