EXQUISITE & Rare ANTIQUE Chinese Silver & ENAMEL Fragrance Carrier Please see the other antique Chinese enamel pieces I have for sale this week. This item is another piece from my personal collection of 25 years. It is an extraordinary piece with excellent color and craftsmanship in enamel work.
This piece is much like one pictured in the book “Four
Centuries of Chinese Silver” by Margaret Duda and shown in my 4th
photo. Duda remarks “Figure 47 shows the most unusual fragrance carrier I have
ever seen. An impressive fifty eight centimeters long the piece must have been
worn by a member of the aristocracy or possibly even a member of the Imperial
Court. On the bottom, silver dangles appear beneath two rows of enameled lotus
blossoms. To open the carrier, you
must first disconnect the purse handles, then spread the sides.”
There are minor losses to enamel. I may be selling others of this quality in the coming weeks. Please study all of the photos, as I have taken pictures from almost every angle.
