EXQUISITE 19TH c FRENCH NEEDLEPOINT TAPESTRY PILLOW OF CHERUBS

OMG it doesn’t get better than this. I am totally in love with this pillow that I’ve created.

If only it would work in any of my rooms I would keep it myself. Lucky for someone out there it doesn’t. This is a very special pillow. The needlepoint was the back of a chair. It is all hand worked. The cherubs are done in micro petitpoint. The stitches are so small it looks like they were painted. The remaining area is done in needlepoint. The yarns appear to be wool, cotton and silk which are on a heavy natural canvas. There are worn areas especially around the corners but the canvas is very strong and show no signs of deteriorating. The center part is in excellent condition. The needlepoint area measures 17” at the widest and 15” at the narrowest points by 13” tall. The colors are warm muted tones of browns, beige and delicate lavender with warm dark tones.

I used an antique French torchon gold metallic trim around the needlepoint (NOS). For the front of the pillow I used a silk damask from Scalamandre. To finish it off I used a wide (2 inch) French gold metallic vestment trim which is also old (but never before used NOS). On the back I used a soft textured chenille.

The pillow measures 20” x 25”. There is a hidden zipper closure for your convenience and a down (25%) and feather (75%) insert for a plush look and feel. So even the insert is top notch. The entire pillow is lined for extra durability. I really spared no expense on this one. Even though the needlepoint is not in the best condition I thought it was so FABULOUS that I went all out on all the trims and fabrics. Please note that I photographed it with flash and in natural lighting.

So the lucky person that purchases this pillow will of course have a one of a kind piece of art. It would work in almost any decor from Shabby Chic to elegant opulence in any Environment from Bungalow to Chateau. It is in excellent newly created condition combining the old (needlepoint and metallic trims) with the new (all the other elements). It was constructed to last for many more generations and meant to be past down as an heirloom. It comes from a smoke free home. Please check my store for lots more pillows and related items.
