This exquisite large antique French chateau ormolu mount dates from the late 1800s.
Such mounts are wonderful in any decorative period setting and can be used above a doorway or window and can be added to a piece of furniture or a mirror.
It would originally have embellished a very decadent armoire or something similar.
It has taken on a warm old gold with the passage of time and I have left it just as I found it. It will polish as required.
Beautifully cast it carries a rose bough with leaves at the outer edges.
There are 5 holes hidden within the design for fixing and the back carries the makers mark 662.
