On offer is this RARE Antique Victorian 10 ct. Solid Rose and Yellow/Green Gold Accented Watch Fob Locket.............exact age unknown, but estimated to be Circa 1880. The Victorians were indeed Masters in the Art of Jewellery making, and this Charming Little Locket is certainly testament to that!

The front features a Shield Shaped Cartouche that\'s never been monogrammed! This is framed by a Floral and Foliage Wreath accented in Green and Yellow Gold. The otherwise plain back is monogrammed with what looks like \"JW\", but the script is so ornate I can\'t be sure. The Workmanship is Exquisite........you certainly won\'t see anything like this in today\'s mass produced jewellery.

It opens from the bottom via an external catch, the closes flush and tight with a snap. There are no photo frames on the inside, but it will accommodate two small photos. It\'s suspended from a hinged bail that\'s very stable, and has the Original Fixed Oval jump ring, ready for the addition of your favourite chain.

I\'ve included a photo of the Locket with a Victorian Bookchain Necklace that compliments it perfectly. The Necklace is NOT included in this sale but is available in a separate listing on the same night. Buy both, and Australian Customers receive FREE Express Post!

IDENTIFICATION: As with most Victorian Jewellery there are no identifying stamps. It\'s been fully tested and deemed to be 10 ct. SOLID Gold.

COLOUR: Rose Gold with Green and Yellow Gold accents as pictured.

WEIGHT: 4.5 Grams.

MEASUREMENTS: 1.9 cm wide x 2.6 cm long, including the bale and fixed top ring, but not the Oval Ring.

CONDITION: In Excellent Condition for its vast age with no erosion or wear to the Gold except for the top of the fixed top ring that has thinned over time, but it still very sturdy. There is light surface scratching, a few teeny pings, and a couple of discreet file marks from previous testings - all consistent with age and use. The applied ornamentation is complete and intact, and there is no evidence of any old repairs. The inside is gleaming and clean.

All statements in my descriptions are based on research and my opinion as a collector. Most items I sell are either Gold Filled or Gold Shell. Gold Filled jewellery is constructed from a thick layer of Solid Carat Gold wrapped around a base metal. The base metal may vary and is not always identified. The Gold is mechanically bonded to the base metal using high heat or pressure, and will be as well made as solid gold pieces.

Vintage and Antique Gold Filled jewellery that was made many years ago will always stand out as Fine Jewellery, not only because of the high gold content, but also because of the high quality and superior craftsmanship. It will maintain its lustre and appearance the same as solid gold jewellery. It will not flake, peel, fade or tarnish, and can be treasured as an heirloom piece. Gold Filled jewellery should not be confused with Gold Plated jewellery. Gold plated metal is produced by placing the metal into a special solution that contains gold, then electrically charged for an instant. This very thin layer can be worn off by rubbing or through body oils. In contrast, the gold filled jewellery is about 100 times thicker than a plated surface. Any Solid Gold jewellery listed will be either fully hallmarked or verified by a jeweller and clearly described as such.

Because all my items are taken in natural light using a macro setting, every detail that would normally not be visible to the naked eye is picked up by the camera lens and appears magnified. In most cases the item will look even better in person than the photos suggest. While my photos are a very important component of the item description, I encourage you to read the Condition report in every listing as I will try my best to mention any flaws. While all weights and measurements provided are as accurate as possible they are approximate.
