Exquisite Luxurious Lush Antique French Victorian Silk Satin Fabric Frag For Sale
This sale is for an exquisite antique 19th century silk textile fragment of the Victorian era. I am very inclined to believe that this is French in origin due to its beyond utmost quality. This is very difficult to find and by all means is very desirable to the doll costumer. It is probably the most luxurious, lush, buttery soft silk satin I have ever had in my possession. One has to handle it to know what I mean;it just sinks into your hands. It has the most marvelous texture and drape, that my only regret is that I do not have yardage. This was acquired in a lot of Victorian era textiles only. All pieces were fragments and not large pieces, but at least enough for doll clothing. Please note that although the photos may give the appearance of lots of fabric, this is not the case, therefore, please do not judge by photos, but by measurements provided in sale. I am only saving about half of the amount for my own personal use and would like to share it with those of you who appreciate. This fabric is absolutely perfect in weight and substance. It is not flimsy thin, nor is it heavy. It will gather, billow, pleat easily and is very pliable. It is in a shade of pale pink/flesh/ivory/peach (all of these colors combined) and is a very classy, neutral color that is perfect for doll gowns in which authenticity is desired. I cannot stress enough how magnificent this fabric is and I am sure that one will absolutely adore it. If shade is important, please note that all monitors are set differently and this is a matter of opinion. Photos depicted have been taken in natural light and without a flash. This is pure silk with its original beautiful selvedge on one side and there are no other fiber contents, i.e., rayon or cotton. This is the real stuff that would have been used for the most expensive couture and if sold today, would cost a pretty penny. There are no major rips, tears or stains and it is not showing any signs of deterioration or brittleness. This measures approximately 22" x 12.5". At the selvedge end it was folded consisting of 1/2" (please look at photos).
