Extraordinary Antique North African Lame And Silk Robe:
A very beautiful North African tunic in deep pinkish red silk with gold lame. The tunic dates from the 1st half of the 20th C and is edged with gold hand- made braid. The pockets are edged with the same gold braid. The buttons do up, although you would probably want to wear it loose. It is completely hand made, as you can see from the stitching in the yellow cotton lining. The item is extremely heavy due to the gold thread and thick silk in the fabric.
The robe is in excellent vintage condition: some slight tarnishing to the lame and a couple of faint stains in the lining fabric. Otherwise, an extraordinary heavy silk statement piece that can equally be worn to the opera or hung on a wall.
I am very happy for the item to be collected from West London-postage is expensive due to the weight.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
Approx size: 20, but would suit smaller as you wear it loose
