Extremely Rare: Superb C.a. Atkins Short Sunderland White Metal Kit 1:200 Scale For Sale
From master machinist C.A. "Tommy" Atkins of Bridlington, North Humberside, England here is his superb and nowextremely rare kit of the Short SunderlandRAF Coastal Command flying boat of W.W.II in 1:200 scale. Known to the Luftwaffe as the "Porcupine" because of the difficulty they had in bringing one down, the Sunderland served worldwide, the last one being retired in the late 1960s. This modelis cast in pewter, which is easier to join (especially with super-glue) than ordinary white metal, which contains a proportion of lead, which will oxidize and hamper glue adhesion. Once the parts have been cleaned up and fitted, they may be assembled with the aforementionedcyanoacrylate glue or two-part epoxy, or put together with a low-temperature solder like Carr's 70 degree C used in conjunction with their red label flux, and applied with a hot air paint stripper set on low. Pewter can thenbe painted without priming, but be sure and thoroughly wash the mold-release talcum powderoff the parts before assembly. This did not come with a box, instructions or decals, but assembly should be straightforward. Please note that the b/w photos are from a book, and are not included in this listing. Please closely examine the photos and ask if you should have any questions prior to offerding.
