Eapg "northwood" / Emerald Green "louis Xv" Oil / Vinegar Cruet:
EAPG "NORTHWOOD" / EMERALD GREEN "LOUIS XV" OIL / VINEGAR CRUET
This is a beautiful example of Northwood Early American Pattern Glass.
It was made circa 1899.
It is a very beautiful emerald green with gold highlights. The gold is 98% intact.
It has a ground pontil.
Any cleaning that needs to be done will be left up to the buyer.
I don't know if this is the original stopper, but it looks like the original that is in all the pictures of this cruet.
It is approx.6 3/4 inches tall to the top of the stopper.
There are no chips or cracks on the cruet.
**Cruet stoppers were made two to a mold. When they were taken out of the mold they were broken in-two and sometimes they were ground. That is why many cruet stoppers are rough at the bottom. Many people do not know this and think that if the bottom of the stopper is not perfect then it is damaged. This is not damage. That is just the way they were made.
My mother-in-law collected cruets for over 30 years. This cruet came from her collection. She passed away in 1989. We have moved to a smaller house and are having to downsize and sell some of her treasures.
You can read about this cruet in any book about cruets. Most of the price guides list it at $250. I am going to start it out lower than that and see what happens.
