Early 1900s Girl In Middle Of Flower, On Clip. Glass German Ornament. For Sale

Early 1900s Girl In Middle Of Flower, On Clip. Glass German Ornament.

Early 1900s Elegant Blond haired Girl Peeking out of a Flower, On Clip.

Glass German Glass Christmas Tree Ornament.

Pre-World War I German German Glass Christmas Tree Ornament.

This is when the "White Tree" was in vogue, where ornaments had a white, soft pastel appearance.

This was in contrasty with the "Victorian Tree" where more color and excess were the norm.

This was more of a "Back to Nature" movement with white, clear, and snow like ornaments.

Silvered inside, this is an amazingly elegant and beautiful ornament.

The little girl has the most wonderful head of blond hair, curly and reaching down to her shoulders.

Blush in her cheeks.

Black eyes, and red lips... such a gracious and kind face.

She is peeking out of a pearl colored flower.

Green sepals... enclosing the flower, yet not open.

On a clip, so it sits above the boughs... not hanging below.

What a mold.. what a fantastic artistic endeavor on the part of the Germans.

3.50" and in very good condition.

Glass ornament blown in Germany and hand painted there in the period before World War I.

I want to add this. Many forget that a positive form had to be carved out of pear wood, and what artistry that took. If a family was more wealthy, they purchased the molds. If they were a poorer family, they rented them from one of six companies who produced the molds for use in this cottage industry.

This was a cottage industry, a means for the Germans to make money during the winter when they could not work in the fields. The sons and fathers blew the ornaments. The girls and mom would silver the ornaments inside, and then individually paint the ornaments, and grandma would take to the train station in the spring when the others were back in the fields. Then they went to the sea coast, put on ships, and arrived in New York to be delivered across the country, and we used them to decorate our trees. The origin is Lauscha, Germany.

We are an older couple which are down-sizing, and these ornaments have been in storage as we have not used them for years. It seems senseless to keep in a box, and not be seen by anyone. So, we are seeking new care-takers for these great German ornaments... so they can be passed on to future generatons.. and be enjoyed, rather than sitting in a box underneath a bed upstairs.

There is nothing wrong These being listed today arein very good shape. They arevintage, notreproductions. I guarantee that.
