Beautiful circa 1865 Cast iron hand cranked Starrett Athol style meat food chopper with revolving basin, a great piece of American mechanical history.When handle is rotated, the gears move the chopper up and down while rotating the bowl in increments. The quality of the workmanship of this is first class and is in good working order, has a squeaky noise, needs to be oiled up. The spinning wheel has some nice remaining yellow paint design, the wooden base still has most of the green paint on it, with yellow edges, marked "NO 401". The blade shows some rust spots, works perfectly. Measures approximately16" x 13" x 8".This machine was made in four sizes, from eight to fifteen inches in diameter, this is a 8" one.This is a fantastic item that can be still used in your kitchen or simply displayed, either way it is a unique piece of early American mechanical history.
