Early Antique Paper Mache Doll From Strong Doll Museum For Sale
I obtained this doll recently at an sale that sold dolls from the Strong Doll Museum. There were approximately 10 Strong Doll Museum dolls sold there and this was on of them. She is a large doll at 20" and has a Paper Mache head, Leather arms & hands and a cloth body. She is wearing fabulous antique leather shoes. She is also wearing a wonderful outfit that appears to be original to her. Condition:I believe she is from around 1850 soI think she is in pretty nice condition for her age. She is 20" tall clean and hasno odors. Some of the paper mache on her nose and chin has yellowed and a little has rubbed off. The yellowing goes into her forhead too. There is some crazing/crackingparticularly on her forehead. She also has some paint loss to the back of her hair. Other than that I can see no other damage to her at all. I tried to remove her clothes and in doing so I caused a tiny tear to the back of her top - so I therefore stopped and just checked her body by moving her clothes around. Her outfit is therefore in perfect condition except for a small tear near the top of the back of her top (see 2cd last photo). She is wearing a top, skirt, slip pantaloons and socks and leather shoes. She is striking in person. I am a doll lover but not a doll expert so please ask all questions prior to making an offer.
