Early Antique Steel Stork Scissors
English * Circa 1860
These petite figural steel scissors are an early version of the popular stork scissors seen today. They have very fine feather details and the steel has a lovely old patina. The blades have sharp, intact points and they cut paper well but could use sharpening. They are signed by J Rodgers & Sons, England's premier 19th century cutler.
The condition is excellent with no rust or other damage and they measure 3 1/4" long.Similar pairs are shown on p. 115 of Gay Ann Rogers' book The Illustrated History of Needlework Tools.
