Early GORHAM Sterling Silver Figural Bird Ladle * Gold Gilt * Wire & Rod Design

"Bird's Nest" Pattern Bird * Comes in Original Box

Gorham made some RARE wire-handled servers of which this is a wonderful example. The curved handle is made up of three attached sterling rods, hand-wrapped with silver wire at both the top and base of the handle. The top is shaped to create a unique scrolling handle with a cast and applied figural bird on one side. This is the same bird that was used in the "Bird's Nest" pattern by Gorham. The unusually shaped bowl of the ladle is supported by the three wires and is beautifully gold-gilded inside.

The case is brown leather with blue velvet interior lining.

A beautiful and exceptionally unique piece. Measures 6 3/4" long with the bowl measuring 2" x 1 9/16" x 1 1/8" deep. Weighs 30.1 grams.
