Early Model Jaeger Le Coultre Atmos Clock, #178143
Here is a nice looking early Jaeger Le Coultre Atmos Clock,in the early 1960's, with the serial number 178143. It is in good condition for its age. It has a very clean dial with arabic numerals on each quarter, and the dial is very clean as you can see in the pictures. We just purchased it this week from an elderly man, who had it stored away in his closet for years. The technical principal of the atmos clock is a beguiling one: Inside a hermetically sealed capsule is a mixture of gas and liquid which expands as the temperature rises and contracts as it falls, making the capsule move like a concertina. This motion constantly winds up the main spring, a variation in temperature of only one degree in the range between 15 and 30 degrees centigrade is sufficient for two days' operation. It is 15 jewels and is made in Switzerland. There is some tarnishing on the case, but it looks very nice. It ticks a short time and then stops, so it probably needs servicing, and the minute hand is not connected. I am selling it without any reserve in 'as is' condition needing servicng and the hand repair. Shipping/insurance is $35 within the Continental USA. Good luck on this nice looking Le Coultre Atmos Clock. (2n10)
