WONDERFUL NOAH\'S ARK WITH 49 ANIMALS AND MR. & MRS. NOAH
The tradition of Arks as a toy can be traced back to Germany in the 1700\'s, particularly in the Erzgebirge region, with cottage industry style production. Due to the intricacy, fine detailing and numerous parts, few have survived in good condition. However, this one has survived in good condition.........
Antique Folk ArtNoah\'s Ark - including Mr. & Mrs. Noah +49 animals!! The Arkis probably from the 1800\'s early 1900\'s. It hassome of its original paint; however, some of the paint is missing (for example the two windows on the back side).All of the pieces are hand carved and most of them have little nicks here andthere and most of their legshave been repaired.Mr. Noah has arms and Mrs. Noah has one arm; theexpressions on their faces are almost gone.Most of the color thatwas probably original to the animals is still there.There is a small original latch on the front of this ark.Thereare a couple of places where the paint and/or paper is missing as shown in thephotos. I believe the roof is not the original one; however, it looks like a great replacement. Even with the wear on this piece, thepaint loss, etc. this piece stilllooks fantastic for being over 100 years old!!! The boatmeasures 18.25 \" long x 9\" high.The animalsrange in size from 1.5 inchesto 2.5 inches in length and 1.75 inches to 2.5 inches in height. There is a buy-it-now option.
