Early Strato Gun Toy Cap Pistol Rare Nickel Plated 1949 Original Space Ray A+++ For Sale
Made in Detroit in the height of its industrial dominance, this classic, 1949 era
"Strato gun" is in near mint condition. This particular version is the earliest the company made as indicated by the small "nub" at the top back area of the handle (later versions had these removed), and also the nickel plating as opposed to the cheaper chroming done after the first two years. Constructed of high
grade metal and thick plating, these toys were some of the most
coveted cap guns of their time. With only minimal mid-west distribution,
these highly stylized ray guns are very rare and becoming harder to find in
any condition. This particular example is one of the finest early versions we've ever
seen. With no corrosion or damage of any kind, and having fired very few caps by the looks of it, it is one of the nicest you might ever run across. The cap chamber shows almost no evidence of firing and locks firmly into place (not so common with these). The red accent paint is near perfect and the nickel shows almost no wear other than a slight patina and some small scuffs. All told,
this is one of the rarest and most highly sought after mid-century cap
guns in existence and would make an excellent addition to even the best
