Ebenezer Adams Account Book. President John Adams Cousin:
Up for sale is a rather unique item that belonged to Ebenezer Adams, who lived next to peace field, John Adams' presidential and retirement home. This book was an account book the records various transactions personal, as well as Masonic. John Q. Adams has always been known in history as a figurehead in the antimasonic movement, yet his close uncle Eben. Adams lived next to him in Quincy MA. yet maintained the family friendship. Moreover- John Quincy participated in the opening of a Masonic lodge in Quincy in 1803 along with his father and Eben Adams. I always believed Adams' views on masonry were not so much negative, but political as a chance to win the presidency over Jackson. The Adams' have always been heavily involved in Masonry, including Charles Francis and Owen Adams in later years. Eben. Adams' father was a captain in the American revolution, and is also buried in the lot next to where John Adams sr. and jr. were originally buried.
In this small account book are personal and masonic entries from 1802-the mid 1830's. Every entry is signed with the iron gall ink on parchment like paper. Its a neat piece of history from both the Adams family and the unique masonic relationship surrounding the family. If sold this will go towards restoration efforts being raised.
Thank you for viewing and please forward any questions you may have. I have extensive research into the Adams' political family from both personal interest as well as for the purposes of identifying the masonic connection to the family.
