Edison Fireside Phonograph Model B W/ Cygnet #10 Morning Glory Horn:
This is a neat old phonogragh that took a prominent spot in my parents antique shop where they played it on occasion for the customers. I've heard it play but I don't know how to adjust the components correctly and have not made it play myself. I did give the crank a few turns and the drum rotates at a brisk pace with the switch in front turning it on and off. The last patent date on the phonogragh is August 1909. The Horn is in good structural shape but has quite a few scratches, the patent date on it is July of 1907. If you have questions please ask before offerding. Shipping is within the USA only, we will ship abroad but will have to calculate and pass along the shipping charges after the sale.On Jul-28-13 at 10:12:43 PDT, seller added the following information:
Please note last picture as I have finally figured out how to set up the crane correctly. On Jul-31-13 at 04:11:36 PDT, seller added the following information:
The question about the units playability came came up. I said that I've heard it play on several occasions but could not figure out how how to make it play myself. After a little research I believe the problem was a weak belt that has broken. When I tried it the first times the drum spun at a good pace, but as I've rechecked it without touching anything else the drum is stationary but the mechanism is still working as before . the space at the end of the drum where the belt should be is now bare and I've located a torn piece of leather at the bottom of the mechanism box. I have seen the belts for model "B"'s for sale and would willing to discount the price of a new belt. Like I said, everything turned fine when I started it the first time. When I gave it a second try last night I had no luck. The other item of note is that included in the sale is a small tin with about six new needles.
