Election Of 1828 & 1844. Virginia. J.q. Adams & H. Clay. 2 Electoral Tickets For Sale
Offered are two electoral tickets out of Virginia. The first piece, and a rather attractive one at that, is when Adams ran for re-election in 1828 against Andrew Jackson. Jackson won in a virtual landslide winning close to 70% of the electoral votes. This ticket is in good condition, blank on verso,and measures 3 x 6 1/2 inches. SEE SCANS. The second ticket is of the more familiar plain variety, and is from Clay's last attempt to win the Presidency. This was in 1844 when he ran on the Whig ticket against the Democrat, James K. Polk. He almost made it, but no cigar. It measures 4 x 4 1/2 inches, is blank on verso, and is in good condition but for the obvious flaw in upper edge, and clearly seen in the scan.
