We are pleased to offer this monumental English sterling silver lion and urn punch bowl.

A superb re-creation of a c1685 Charles II Montieth form punch bowl. See Waldron pg 18-20 for similar examples.

From the well regarded Sheffield firm of James Dixon and Sons in 1905. Known for the finest silver, though especially regarded for skillful re-creations of antique forms.

Classic high walled circular form.

Elegant stepped notched rim. As found on the original c1685 design.

The rim crest with leaf cap and rolling vine.

Followed by brilliantly repoussed standing lions, flanking clasical urn brimming with floral. Atop satin background.

Swirling acanthus and streaming bead fluting rising from stem.

The punch bowl atop thick well cast stepped circular base. Conforming acnathus and training bead detail.

The foot wih later script presentation as shown.

This exceptional Charles II form Montieth is 11 inches dimater and 9 inches tall.

Exceptionally thick, heavy guage sterling construction 79 (standard) ounces.

Hallmarked as shown.

In excellent, near pristine condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Stands perfectly firm on table or display shelf. The standing lion and urn displays, streaming petal and leaf retain their original detail.
