We are pleased to offer this monumental English sterling silver dragon handle trophy cup.

The kneeling dragon with shield atop cover engraved Bisley 1935.

Bisley is the site of the UK National Rifle Assoc. target competitions. Since 1890 when the event was moved from Wimbledon.

The centre shields un-engraved, as the trophy likely never awarded.

From the highly regarded Elkington, Birmingham 1934.

The cup in very unique inverted turnip form.

Centre with shield, unmonogrammed, suspended from ruffled ribbon and bow. Flanked by richly chased thistle, clover and floral medallion.

Alternating acanthus and spear tip leaf panels rising from base.

The cover with boldly cast Medieval dragon, kneeling with shield. The richly detailed dragon with spear tip tongue.

Even more brilliantly fashioned spread wing dragon handles. The dragons with spear tip tomgue as well. Unusually long, encircled spear tip tails. Medieval dragons like this with such long tails. Lacking horns and tendril as found on Chinese or Japanese renditions.

Atop well cast bun centre stepped base. French inspired crossed ribbon tied streaming leaf and berry decoration.

Hallmarked as shown.

This monumental English sterling silver dragon handle trophy cup is 14 inches tall and 9 1/2 across dragons.

Exceptionally thick, heavy guage sterling weighs 54 1/2 (standard) ounces.

Excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina. The floral medallion and dragon handles retain their original crisp vibrant hand chased detail. Stands perfectly firm on table or display shelf. Original gold wash inside neck.
