A rare 1791 British sterling silver dish cross.

Dish stands or crosses were made only briefly from c1765 - c1795.

William Abdy, 1791.

Inverted pear heater with original hallmarked cover.

Twin rotating arms with bent spoon atop twin vine supports,

which to and from center burner, accommodating different sizes dishes

for heating.

Atop split and curled vine bell top circular feet line engraved.

Never monogrammed.

This rare 1791 British sterling silver dish cross is

full size 12 1/4 inches and weighs 16 1/4 standard ounces.

Hallmarked as shown, under base, under cover and

support arms.

In very fine condition.

Rich sterling patina.

Stands firm.
