FINEST ENGLISH VICTORIAN STERLING SILVER FIVE PIECE YEA SET; RAISED BEAD AND HAND CHASED ACANTHUS STREAMS; 63 OUNCES
This is a beautifully crafted Victorian sterling silver five piece tea and coffee service.
From the well regarded Sheffield firm of Martin and Hall in 1899.
Classic ovoid form.
Elegant slender panel fluting.
Beautifully hand chased satin surface acanthus, cascading from shoulder.
The raised bead rim gently rising to sides.
Boldly cast raised petal and bell cap finial. Atop layered scallop edge surround. Itself atop florette in chain link display.
Well cast thin paneled C-scroll handles. Rising from spread acanthus terminal.
This Victorian sterling silver raised bead and acanthus cream jug is 5 1/2 inches and 6 1/2 standard ounces.
Sugar bowl is 7 inches and with tongs 12 standard ounces.
The teapot is 10 inches handle to spout and 20 1/2 standard ounces.
The coffee pot is 9 inches handle to spout and 24 1/2 standard ounces.
Exceptionally thick, heavy guage sterling set weighs 63 (standard) ounces.
Extensively hallmarked as shown.
In excellent condition. Rich sterling patina throughout. Interior clean as if little used. The elegant beaded work and anthemion accents retain their detail. Few tiny bumps and faint lines, teapot possible removal.
