An Ercuis tea and coffee service, probably dating to the immediate post World War Two period, though it could antedate the war. It is a good example of the French Art Deco Style.
Ercus is a French silvermaker which is well known for the quality of its pieces. Their products are retailed in the United States in stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Saks and Neiman Marcus. All of the pieces are exceptionally heavy and the silverplating is superb. It evidences little wear. The comgined weight of the four pieces is six pounds, or 2.72 Kilograms.
Condition wise, there are no dents or dings. There is a slight bend on the rim of the sugar box's lid. Some small spots where the handles are attached where the plate looks thin. The wood finials and handles are secure.
The tea pot measures Six [ 6.00 ] inches in height. Or, 15.00 Cms. From the tip of the spout to the backside of the handle, measures Eight [ 8.00 ] inches. Or, 20.00 Cms. The mouth is Five [ 5.00 ] Cms. in diameter. Or, 12.50 Cms.
The coffee pot measures Six & One-Half [ 6.50 ] inches in height. Or, 16.50 Cms. From the tip of the spout to the backside of the handle measures Eight [ 8.00 ] inches. Or, 20 Cms. The mouth is Four [ 4.00 ] inches in diameter. Or 10.00 Cms.
The sugar box is Four & One-Half [ 4.50 ] inches high. Or,12.50 Cms.Handle end to handle end is Six & One-Half [ 6.50 ] inches. Or, 16.50 Cms. The cream pitcher is Three & One-Third [ 3.33] inchs in height. Or, 8.50 Cms.
