Thomas, Eugene - The Shadow of Chu-seng (NY: Sears1933) VG+
Sharp copy of an extremely scarce book. Eugene Thomas wrote four of the bet "yellow peril" novels of all-time. Sadly, his pulisher (Sears) was a lot better at sending out catalogs to rural customers than they were at selling books. An ecletic mix of titles ranging from mysteries to romance, most Sears titles from this period are extremely difficult to come by. Thomas' novels are exceptionally difficult to find. This is a nice copy lacking the very scarce dustjacket and featuring the villainyof the fiendish "Tongueless One" Chu-Seng! It is a testimony to Thomas' skill as a writer that he is able to create such a memorable character without him having a single word of dialogue. Chu-Seng rightfully belongs aside Fu Manchu, Mr. Chang, Dr. Yen-sin and Wu Fang as one of the great Asian villains.A cornerstone voume for any collection of 1930s thrillers! We are extremely pleased to be able to offer two of the four excellent thrillers authored by Eugene Thomas.
