Beautiful copy of an extremely scarce book. Eugene Thomas wrote four of the bet "yellow peril" novels of all-time. Sadly, his pulisher (Sears) was a lot better at sending out catalogs to rural customers than they were at selling books. An ecletic mix of titles ranging from mysteries to romance, most Sears titles from this period are extremely difficult to come by. Thomas' novels are exceptionally difficult to find, particularly in jacket. This is a superb copy with minor chipping to the dustjacket, realy a showpiece item. As to the story itself, the fiendish "Tongueless One" Chu-Seng is back and up to his usual mischief. It is a testimony to Thomas' skill as a writer that he is able to create such a memorable character without him having a single word of dialogue. Chu-Seng rightfully belongs aside Fu Manchu, Mr. Chang, Dr. Yen-sin and Wu Fang as one of the great Asian villains.A cornerstone voume for any collection of 1930s thrillers!
