First let me say that I am NOT a book expert. However, this is clearly an extremely old book, and it is dated 1545 in at least two spots. I have (since acquiring this wonderful old piece) done some research and it appears that this was Martin Luther\'s last revision of the New Testament before his death one year later in 1546. The first several pages are loose and the edges are rough (see photo). The majority of the pages are still bound together in a few large clumps but there are some pages in several places that are loose. Surprisingly it doesn\'t look to have any missing pages (I have NOT flipped through every one - and won\'t for fear of damage - so no guarantees on that). The binding is a leather of some sort and the flap that would have latched it together at some point has had the metal piece broken (again, see photo). I have every reason to believe this is an actual 1545 printing and none to make me believe otherwise, HOWEVER, I am selling it just as you see it, with no guarantees as to age or authenticity. What I CAN tell you is that this is absolutely and unequivocally NOT a modern reprint of any kind.
