A beautiful, genuine antique, 1920's silk lace dress. Perfect for your evening affairs! Amazingly well preserved, fresh and clean. The Flapper era dress is made of a fine French silk lace in darkest black, supple and soft, with a lovely all-over pattern that changes in the weave (below the knee) into a pattern of large overblown Deco roses. There are two side openings on the lower hip area of the dress, with a flirty cascading drape effect on each side. There is a moveable, glittering Deco rhinestone dress clip at the neck, which can also be moved to the side drape. Simple rounded neckline is perfect for adding your own jeweled brooch or necklace. The lace is supple and soft, yet sturdy, and not dry or splitting, and the lace has a wonderful drape to it. Not a stiff lace. This is a classic flapper style which skims over the figure, and is very forgiving of any figure flaws while being very complimentary to your assets. Not a tiny size, (hurrah) seems an average size and due to the styling will fit a range of sizes. The dress will, of course, need an under-slip in the color of your choosing. Fairly straight line from under bust area to hem, fuller in the bust area as it has sort of Kimono style sleeves which are flutter style and open (split) at the top to reveal your bare shoulders. Approx 51" long at the sides (from shoulder tops to hem). See more measurements below. Straight from the Great Gatsy era, and in very clean, supple and overall near excellent condition. See more details below. ! Thank you!

I took a lot of photos for you. Please take a look at them so you can see the actual pattern shaping of this dress, and how it drapes at the side hipline and shoulder sleeves. I show the rhinestone dress clip at the neckline and at the side, as it can be easily moved. It is original to the dress, as stated by the museum from which de-accessioned this several years ago. While it has no written provenance, it was part of a collection from a wealthy Boston estate, and was donated by the family to the Boston Museum. The woman bought almost all of her formal clothing in Paris as she traveled there frequently in the early 20th century. She was known for wearing everything only once, or often not at all. This dress does look as if possibly never worn.

MEASUREMENTS: This dress is of the Flapper Era 1920s style, and is cut full to skim over the underdress and body under it. That said, I took the measurements with the dress laid flat, and as best I could approximate as there is no defined bust, waist or hip. The length from shoulder top to hem in front is approx 50", and the sides are about 2" longer. The shoulders are "open" as the style of the flutter sleeves is to expose the arms and shoulders...so it is impossible to say the "size" of the shoulders as they are a bit flexible as they are open at the top...from seam to seam the shoulder measurement is 15". The bust is very full, as the square kimono style sleeves create a wide bust and open feel....I measured about 14" down from the shoulders, across, and it is approx. 50" across. No defined waist or hip. It is a fairly straight line from under the bust to the hem, although the hem is slightly flared and remember the sides are open from the dropped hipline area. At the side slit/frape it measures approx 40" laid flat, but it expands to 44" easily as the lace has "give", but you do not want the dress to be snug as that is not how the designer intended it and you do not want to stress the dress. PLEASE ASK if you need more information.

MEASUREMENTS: I cannot determine the actual "size" of this garment as it is antique and a loose style. But I will give as accurate measurements of the dress itself as I can. It seems about a size medium. The length from shoulder top to hem in front is " in front, and in back is " long. Bust measured from underarms seams across is ". Hips, measured at the side drape/slit is ". Natural waist (about " down from shoulder line) is ". Shoulders are not defined, but are approx 16" across the tops. Sleeves are " long from top of shoulder to hem/cuff.. All measurements were taken on the outer layer of the dress, with the garment laying flat. Please ask if you need more specific information, thank you. Fit is not guaranteed. Please measure yourself and compare, allowing room for movement and comfort.

I think this is very well preserved. CONDITION is VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT on most of it, but it does have a few very tiny flaws so overall it rates Very Good. The dress was well stored and was never put in an attic or basement, and is very fresh looking, very clean, not soiled, no fading or spots, no odors...Color is deep dark and even ink black. The silk lace is beautiful, and well preserved, not dry, not brittle or shattering, the silk is supple, and soft. I found no real holes, only a few tiny breaks in the lace, or the "brides (connecting threads) but very minimal and no obvious holes except for 1 very very tiny hole near 1 arm hole, but so very tiny. An easy repair that would not show. Seams are secure with no breaks or tearing. At each shoulder top, there is tiny break/tear, which is really just a slight opening of the connecting seam...could be repaired and afterward not show (I think). The lace and the entire dress holds up well to handling and trying on. It is a little delicate by nature as it is silk lace, but is not dry or fragile feeling. Handles well without stressing or tearing. Underarms are excellent, no damage. The edges and hems on the lace are very good. A tiny bit of wear to the very hem edge along one side of the sleeve, so tiny. Seams on the garment are secure and very good. ....The rhinestone clip is excellent, no lose or missing stones and it is nice and sparkly. PLEASE SEE THE PHOTOS. The photos are part of the description. There may be a tiny hole, loose thread, broken "bride" etc., that I missed, but I looked it over well. .......Comes from a smoke free, pet free home and has been well stored. Offered with a low opening offer and . I do not guarantee this will fit you.... PLEASE ASK if you need more information. I am selling this as described..."as found".... it is wonderful for its rarity, for study, collecting. etc. NOTE: We do not guarantee the wearability of antique garments. ..... Selling as found, well described. NO RETURNS if I miss some tiny thing, returns will be considered only if I have made some gross error in my description. International shipping is non refundable on returns. Thank you.

PLEASE.... ask if you need more info, as there will be NO RETURNS unless I have made a gross error in my description. I may have missed a tiny thing, but I do try to look for everything as best I can. Please, ask if you need more information, photos or measurements BEFORE you offer. Thank you.
