This is a beautiful large piece of 19th century Berlin woolwork worked in vividly dyed wools typical of the 1850s and 60s when new dyes where being invented and used with great enthusiasm in the textile inductry.
This panel is unused, it must have been stored out of the light for years as the original clours are all there, their brightness beautifully tempered by the dove grey background and yellow rococo borders.

It is is worked in fine wool threads on pale blue linen canvas in very good colours with a beautiful design, the vivid colours give this panel an almost contemporary feel, it would be wonderful framed or used to make a cushion/pillow front etc.

It measures about 25\" by 18.5\" including the canvas or 63.5 cms by 47 cms.   The condition is mostly good, minor storage wear with a few little missing stitches and small rubbed patches, mostly in the grey border, see photos. Thank you for looking.

Welcome to Morgaine Le Fay Antique Textiles, a treasure trove of antique and vintage textiles maintaine by vanye90. I am an obsessive collector of beautiful fabric and other textiles, I love pattern, colour and texture, and this is reflected in the stock I buy. I love the \'shabby chic\' look where the patina of age and use are celebrated, as well as the more utilitarian Shaker style and the pretty country cottage look, and always carry stock that would work well with these types of interiors.I source antique fabrics, linens, lace, embroideries, passementerie trims, ribbons, gold and silver metal threads and much much more. I have a fondness for French textiles, and you will find plenty here. I also look out for wonderful antique and vintage curtains, they have so much more character than newly bought ones.I am always more than happy to put together project packs for customers containing certain types of fabric or haberdashery, for example antique French tickings, florals etc, or different types of ribbon/lace. If you are on the look-out for anything specific, why not contact me, I may be able to help. I constantly update my listings, adding a few more things most days, so please save me to your favourite seller list, and check back often, I may have just what you are looking for! Please note that most of my items are antique or vintage, and show signs of age as noted on the listings. they will not look pristine and new, if this is what you are looking for, my listings may not be what you are looking for.I am always mote than happy to combine postage for multiple items where possible, this can often lead to a substantial reduction. Thank you for taking the time to read this, vanye90.
