Exquisite Antique Silver Gilt And Mother Of Pearl Etui. French C.1850? For Sale
DelightfulFrench Etui in silver gilt (not marked) and mother of pearl measuring about 3.5 x 2 x 1 inch. It has a charming miniature of a putti with dove on one side and a delightful three dimensional paper 'cameo' of flowers on the other with the legend 'Magazin Damour' above. There is much wear to the outer decoration and a crack to one panel of the mother of pearl. Inside there is a bottle, a tiny knife and a bone handle which clearly had another part. I am not sure what it should have or what might be missing. Whilst it is certainly not perfect it is utterly charming and exquisite.
