Exquisite Rare Antique Japanese Meiji Era Solid Silver Parasol Handle C1880:
Extreemly Rare & quite Exquisite Antique Japanese Meiji era Parasol Handle c1880.
A heavy and fairly substantial piece, it is beautifully proportioned with a length of 224mm or just under 9 inches and weighs an impressive 83g.
Bearing the 'jungin' or 'pure silver' Imperial Japanese silver mark used during the Meiji era 1868 to 1912.
It bears a plethora of intricate hand chased and applied foliage around simulated bamboo. It retains traces of fine enamel work.
Condition is essentially very good. It is solid and intact. There is some bruising to the pommel but this wouldn't be difficult to sort.
All in all, its an exquisite example of Imperial Japanese Meiji era silverwork.
