Exquisite & Rare Early 1930s Carlton Ware Blue Floral Comets Vase:

This is an absolutely fabulous and exquisite, rare, early 1930s Carlton Ware floral comets vase, profusely decorated to the exterior with gold gilt linear and coloured decoration,designed by Vi Elmer. This pattern was first introduced in the early 1930s. There are no records in existance regarding the number made, but this pattern with the blue ground is quite rare and not seen all that often.

This would have been an expensive vase to produce at the time and it is our belief thatit would have been manufactured to order rather than having shelves of them in the factory, waiting to be sold to retailers. We wouldn\'t like to hazard a guess as to how many were actually made but they don\'t seem to appear in vast numbers.

Floral comets was available in different coloured backgrounds. Gloss blue, matt blue and matt green that we know of, also many different shapes including vases, tea sets, coffee sets and desk sets etc.

To the base isthe printedCarlton Ware trade mark blackscript with \'Made in England\'.

It\'s in absolute fantastic original condition with no chips, scratches,flee bites,restorationand very littlegilt wear. Areally fabulous piece ofCarlton Ware, hard to believe it\'s83 years of age. I\'m afraid my photo\'s aren\'t doing thismagnificent piece ofCarlton Ware truejustice, because thelight refection is hindering the exquisite visual appeal, of this spectacular vase. Whoever purchases this, I guarantee will not be disappointed.

As you can see from my pictures, thislovelyvaseseems to colour shift depending on room lighting conditions, which is quite striking, it looks different at certain times of the day. It\'s one of thosepieces ofCarlton Warethat you never seem to get fed up of looking at, a real fantastic design conceptfrom one theworlds bestceramic makers.
