Exquisite Sterling Silver Hallmarked Collapsible Travel Cup and Case c.1800's
This is a very fine sterling silver collapsible travel cup with an attachable sterling case/cap. The interrior has a gold wash. the cup is in excellent condition. The rings are tight and quite water tight. The cap clips in very tight. It is a very nice size, the cup itself has a top and bottom diameter of 2.5 inches and is 2.35 inches tall opened. Closed and cased the diabeter is 2.75 inched by .5 inches high. I believe it is American made based on the Patent number. I don't know too much about many of the American makers marks. The "Pat. Apd. For is 7326" from what I could find makes the year either 1850 or 1874 the later more likely Either way it is over 100 years old and such a nice design! it has the initials DME on the cap.
