Extremely Rare 100+ year old Studebaker Horse\'s Bit (Vintage Harness Accessory)...I have been collecting Studebaker parts for many decades and have decided to offer the oldest and rarest Studebaker part that I have ever had the good fortune to run across...this dates back to the days when Studebaker sold horse drawn wagons, carriages and harness accessories for your horses...we have all run across the odd buggy step or brass harness buckle but how many have ever seen an original horse\'s bit made by Studebaker?...I doubt many of these have survived over the past 100+ years and especially in such Pristine Condition...this one is in near Mint condition aside from having a slight bend to one of the sides as pointed out in the last picture and having a little patina...on one side the Studebaker Script is clearly visible and on the opposite the word DANIELINE can be read, I believe that to be either the style name for this Bit or perhaps the name of the horse this Bit was for...there appears to be some letters stamped across the center of the Bit but both the top and bottom of these letters are missing, I guess it may have read BRITISH ??? The Bit itself measures about 5 1/2\" in width and the sides are about 7 1/2\" in length...
This Rare Accessory is obviously not suited for anyone other than the most serious collector of early Studebaker Horse Harnesses...I look forward to hearing from anyone that may have more information on this rare and unique item...
I showed this to a friend of mine that has owned horses all her life and she thought this bit was hardly used if at all...you be the judge...
