Extremely Rare 1930’s Vintage Horsehide Leather Jacket Large Nr For Sale
I’m selling my other antique jacket, unsure of the original maker as the liner has been replaced at some point but the original tag is still in it. The horsehide has a great patina and the collar is in amazing condition.
This is a motorcycle jacket, around size large and it fits like you would expect, it is shorter length and the shoulders are wide, so it seems like there is more room for wider frame. I’m 6’1 and slim, I usually wear a 40 or 42 mostof the time and this is a little large on me, and definitely short as motorcycle jackets are supposed to be.
The horsehide looks beautiful if you like antique well worn clothing. Around the shoulders it shows the most wear where the hide is a little more worn but still in good shape considering the jacket’s age. The only rip/tear inthe jacket is on the left inside behind the zipper, it’s not very noticeable, so much so that I hadn’t seen it before taking the pictures for the ad, it’s a little less then the length of a quarter and likely an easy fix (see photos on flickr page). The mutton collar is in fantastic condition an only has worn edges in the front around the collar, though depending on how thecollar was attached the edges could have always been there. Linings of pockets are original and still intact but as I said before the lining of the jacket has been replaced. Under the collar in the back of the jacket you can see where some of the lining is attached with red stitching, it’s not noticeable unless you look for it but this jacket would be nicer with a different maybe heavierwool lining. The side back ties allow for adjusting fitment and they are also in good condition.
