Extremely Rare Doyle Lane 8 Sided Bottle, Mint, Nr Killer For Sale
Here is a piece right out of my collection, a8 sided Doyle Lane Pottery Bottle with a very narrow mouth in perfect condition. As you may know, Doyle Lane was an African American Studio Ceramist from Southern California. Recently his pieces were exhibited at LACMA, and continue to be part of museum collections around the country. This piece is a very rare form for Doyle Lane and dates from the late 1960's to the early 1970's. This is a nice large piece of Doyle Lane measuring 7 1/4 "; it is very heavy and has a great surface to it. You will notice that the piece is prominently signed "LANE" on the base. Also, you will notice there is a small line in the base that goes through the "A" in "LANE"; this IS NOT A CRACK, rather it is seem or lap in the clay that was formed when the vase was made. This is a very common occurrence in pottery and is in no way damage. However, I offer a 100% guarantee, if you buy this piece and don't like it, please send it back for a full refund minus postage. The entire surface is curdled, and has a dark brown color, with orange highlights in the body and around the mouth. and as I said, I guarantee my items 100%. This is one of the nicest pieces of Doyle Lane I have ever seen and a great studio pottery form; it also has a neat vibe!!
If you would like more pictures, no problem, just let me know and I will be happy to send them!!!.On Aug-01-13 at 19:02:07 PDT, seller added the following information:
The white stuff on the base is earthquake-museum clay; it comes right off.
