Fabulous 19c Japanese Cinnabar Lacquer Tsuishu Inro W Orig Manju Netsuke & Ojime For SaleI am proud to offer here on this magnificent 19c Japanese carved cinnabar tsuishu lacquer inro suit complete with its original 2 piece manju netsuke and gorgeous ojime with gold colored silk cord. This inro suite was produced in the late Edo or early Meiji period and is in fabulous original condition with the inro having (5) sections with black lacquer interior with gold makie inner lippings and edges. The two part manju netsuke is a real stunner as well with its interior also of a black lacquer and the ojime shows its many individual coats of built up lacquer in the close up. The inro itself is quite large and is expertly carved with superb detailing with one side depicting a scholar holding a ruyi scepter in one hand and the other a scroll with an attendant at his side offering up what is in the bowl surrounded by mountains, rockery, plants and a well defined pine tree while the opposite side shows two more attendants bringing another bowl to yet another figure while walking on another type of finely executed ground. The manju is simply wonderful depicting a pair of phoenix birds circling in flight surrounding a flower with the opposite side showing another with great details to the wings and tail feathers. The color is a pleasing strong deep red with a excellent surface patina and the overall conditon is excellent with the manju and ojime both being perfect and the only flaw to the inro is a few very tiny peices of the geometric ground flaked off just to the outside cord channels and some scuffing to the inner black lacquer necks of the individual sections due to on and off movements otherwise fabulous. Sizes: Inro....Height 3-1/2" x Width 3" x Thickness 1-1/4", Manju Netsuke....Diameter 1-5/8" x Height 7/8" & Ojime....Diameter 3/4". A seldom found complete original cinnabar inro in basically perfect condition so offer to win as the winner will be very pleased!
