Description: This is a fantastic, make signed, 19thcentury German pewter two handled basin or ‘Steilwandschussel’. The large basin or serving bowl is fittedwith two heavy relief-cast decorative handles. The underside of the basin bearsthree excellent maker’s marks of the well-known German pewterer, Johann BaptistFinck, who is listed in the authoritative German reference by Hintze:Suddeutsche Zinngiesser, Vol.VI, mark #332. It is a well-known fact that severalGerman makers used a Londonmark to advertise the quality of their pewter.
