Hardback, lovelylight blue decorative boards with beautiful gilt illustrations to front cover -lovely colour floral decorative imprint with gilt decoration to front cover andspine. (see photos below). Undated but circa 1890. Presumed first edition, no mention of other editions. Lovely colour frontispiece (with tissue guard). Stunning full page colour illustrations (chromos) of garden flowers- each with its own tissue guard (see photosbelow). Black endpapers. 160 pages. 20cm x 14cm.

Good condition – Covers in good / very goodcondition – still bright; spine slightly darkened; rear cover has 3 small blackmarks. Some wear to edges / edges of spine and top / bottom of spine; cornersbumped and a bit worn. Internally good. Book is clean,unmarked – no inscriptions, no scribbles etc. Frontispiece (plate) missing (tissueguard but no plate), all other plates present and in very good condition. Bindingis very good, tight. Front hinge has some tearing / cracking but still firmlyattached – rear hinge very good. Tissue guards slightly yellowed. Pages crisp.

Overall a good copy ofthis rare and very collectible book on botany with some lovely hand colouredillustrations
