DESCRIPTION

The Warriors is a 1979 cult action/thriller film directed by Walter Hill and based on the 1965 novel by Sol Yurick. Much like the novel, the film borrows certain elements from the Anabasis by Xenophon.
Over the years, The Warriors has developed a significant cult following. At Seattle’s Grand Illusion Cinema, programmer Zack Carlson remembers, “people were squeezed in, lying on the floor, cheering". Entertainment Weekly named The Warriors the 16th greatest cult film on their "Top 50 Greatest Cult Films" list. The magazine also ranked it the 14th Most Controversial Movie Ever.

NEED TO KNOW FACTS: The patch design employed in the 1979 motion picture "The Warriors" released by Paramount is confusingly similar to the HAMC registered mark. Although HAMC did not have sufficient notice prior to the release of the motion picture to restrain that use of the infringing design, Paramount and its parent company Viacom have since acknowledged the rights of HAMC. Responding to demands and recognizing the rights of HAMC in the "front-view death head" design mark, Viacom took steps to avoid further infringement in its 2005 release of a "Warriors" videogame and action figures, substituting a flamed serpent design for the winged skull design.
