This sale is for very fine 17th or 18th century miniature portrait painting.
It came from the family of Sir Thomas Christmas (1622-1703). He made his mark by establishing, in the mid 1600’s, what was to become the prosperous and socially prominent Waterford (Ireland) branch of his family.
This portrait is believed to be of one of his Children.
The frame is about 4 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches.
The visible image is about 2 1/8 x 1 1/2 inches.
It is behind glass, and there are reflections in the glass. I have attached lots of pictures so you can see beyond any reflections.
