Up for sale is a Very Fine Early Georgian London Sterling Silver Lighthouse Form Tea or Coffee Pot. The Pot is of very fine quality throughout. The Pot has a very nice period lighthouse form. The Pot is also very finely and intricately bright cut decorated throughout, really some of the nicest hand carved work I have personally seen. The spout and lid also have nice period designs, and the lid has a fine quality strong quality lid hinge. The Pot also appears to have its original carved ebony wood handle with top thumb rest. The Pots handle pins have been reinforced at some point as you can see making the handle very strong with absolutely no movement at all. The Pot has a few light marks and some light wear throughout, but overall for its early age the pot is in fine original condition with no large dints, cracks, holes, or repairs. The Pot displays nicely and is a is a Full size period example and is still very practical for use if one desired measuring 8 ½ inches long, by 4 ½ inches wide at the base, and stands 10 inches tall. The Pot has a nice quality weight of 770 grams. The Pot holds an even 1000ml, or 32oz of beverage. As you can see the hallmarks on the pot are somewhat worn. However you can clearly see the London crowned lion Georgian town hallmark, along with lion passant sterling silver hallmark. You can also make out most of the date letter which is a fancy letter which I believe would date the pot to being made in the 1755-75 era. You cannot see much of the makers mark other than a star above the letters which can be very clearly seen. I am sure if you know your silver a maker could be tracked down going of the town, date, and star mark. The Lid also shows a partial crown lions head hallmark matching the pot which indicates they are original to each other. You do not see many examples of this fine quality come up for sale, mostly with s!
