violin by Henry Farny, made in Paris, France circa 1890.
It has a very beautiful, strong, lyrical sound...I've

This is a video clip of the actual violin being sold in this sale
and was shot on my inexpensive Casio digital camera in
video mode. There is absolutely no enhancement of the
sound whatsoever...no expensive, special microphones,
no computer alteration, no studio effects.The piece
is Czardas by Vittorio Monti. The player is a violin
student who always welcomes your is a beautiful violin with that bears the hallmarks of a
better French Violin of the period (likely made Note the beautifullyebonized edges on the scroll
which is itself beautifully,almost sensuously best thing about this violin is the sound. It has
that mature, resonant,mature sound that is what

Paris, believe this violin belongs in the hands of professional
or advanced violinist or a serious collector who wants
toadd a fine, old French instrument to their collection. SIZE ~ 4/4 VIOLINOverall length is 23-1/4" long.
Body measures 14" long.
Lower bout is 8" wide;
upper bout is 6-1/2" French violins are becoming difficult to find. These
estate instruments are sold here on without usual, I've posted a sound sample to share
the beautiful, warm tone of this violin with you.
This violin is the kind of instrument that we,
as violinists, search for but rarely REPORT:There are no sound post cracks.No open seams.There is one
repaired hairline on lower treble side. It was well done and is
solid and presents no furtherproblems. There are no other
cracks at all. Therearethe usual signs of wear from years
of play.Likeany old violin it might benefit from a freshset
of strings; and a setup,etc. toyour taste. It is a really
gorgeous violinwith a beautiful, rich, powerful sound. Ships inan old shapedcase(no bow). The case
will protect it in shipping but has seen better days.I have included many photos; they are part of the description.
